SID for Amusement Ride Operator Verification

Amusement rides are great fun for both children and adults but, unless they are operated by people trained and certified in their operation, they can also be dangerous. It is for this reason that only people who have been properly trained and certified can operate public amusement rides.

The great majority, if not all, rides are controlled by a key. Anyone who has the ride key can operate the ride. There was, until now, no way of ensuring that the person using the key is actually certified and authorized to operate that ride.

SID Secure Identification Device™ was developed to ensure that only properly certified and authorized people can operate your rides. SID Secure Identification Device™ uses the latest in biometric fingerprint technology to positively verify the identity of the person attempting to operate the ride.

With SID Secure Identification Device™ installed on a ride only those people whose fingerprint is enrolled in the system can operate the ride. The system has one ‘system manager' who is the only person who can enroll and delete fingerprints from the system so the ride owner has complete control over who is enrolled in the system.

SID Secure Identification Device™ does not replace the normal key, but is used in addition to it so that you have two levels of security.

1. The operator must be in possession of the key, and
2. the operator must be authorized and have their fingerprint registered in SID.

When an operator wants to start the ride he puts his registered finger on the fingerprint scanner, The fingerprint is compared against the authorized fingerprints stored in memory. If a match is found the operator can start the ride.

The operator must verify their fingerprint each time the ride is started, or re-started, to ensure that there is no possibility of an authorized operator starting the ride and then handing over control to a person who is not certified, or authorized, to operate that ride.
